Microdermabrasion Mosman

Microdermabrasion Mosman – LAB Skin Clinic  02 9909 3602

Microdermabrasion has been used for many years to treat deep facial lines, extreme sun damage, and scars.

However science is a driving force behind the cosmetic aesthetics industry, continuously creating new skin rejuvenation techniques and improving the old. Over the last few years, the growing demand for instant results driven non-invasive skin rejuvenation and anti-ageing procedures has begun to change the range of services that clinics offer. One such treatment that has dramatically increased in popularity is C&B Laser skin resurfacing – superseding dermabrasion and microdermabrasion to become the gold standard in skin resurfacing.

C&B Laser skin resurfacing is a non-chemical, non-invasive procedure that removes the outermost layers of dry, dead skin cells and reveals younger, healthier-looking skin. It also encourages the production of a new underlying layer of skin cells with higher levels of collagen and elastin, which further improves the skin’s appearance.Microdermabrasion Mosman - LAB Skin Clinic  02 9909 3602

The C&B laser is a far more effective form of skin resurfacing that delivers 17X better results than a deep dermabrasion. Non-ablative with very little downtime, this treatment works from the inside out to produce amazingly smooth and clear skin.

Laser skin resurfacing is recommended as part of an age-prevention treatment program.

Microdermabrasion and laser skin resurfacing can be used for both medical and non-medical indications. Medical indications include active acne, acne scars, facial scars, hypertrophied and keloid scars, hyper pigmentation, melasma, fine lines, wrinkles and stretch marks. Non-medical indications include total body toning, total body exfoliation, bust firming/lifting, lymphatic drainage, cellulite treatment and face polishing with organic crystals. It is a treatment that also compliments other procedures such as IPL, lasers and chemical peels.

During Microdermabrasion, crystals, or a diamond tipped tool, are used to gently exfoliate the surface of the skin. This is usually combined with a suction device to clean out pores, remove clogging and draw underlying debris to the surface to facilitate easier extraction. The suction device simultaneously draws blood to the surface of the skin, increasing the level of oxygenated blood to the dermis and speeding up the natural production of collagen, elastin and fibroblast. This increase in intercellular activity and in the skin’s regeneration process helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Conventional micro dermabrasion systems fire crystals (or other particles) to abrade the skin. This crystal is called White Infused Alumina, more commonly known as aluminium oxide. Aluminium oxide is an inert product that is shaped like a diamond. It is the edges of this diamond shape that achieves the exfoliation process. While the actual size and grade of crystal used may vary between suppliers, aluminium oxide crystals usually resemble grains of white sugar and, contrary to popular belief, do not float around in the air.

Diamond tipped treatment heads, on the other hand, allow therapists to deal with thinner, finer skin types, which do not require heavier exfoliation but still have fine lines and wrinkles. Instead of firing crystals at the skin, the technician gently strokes the skin with a diamond-tipped treatment head.

Micro dermabrasion using the crystal particles has been described as an uncontrolled exfoliation process; the majority of exfoliation does not happen immediately. Rather it occurs 2 to 3 days after the treatment.

For a non-ablative deep cleanse facial treatment that incorporates water-based, rather than crystal-based dermabrasion, we recommend Hydra Facial MD.
